Epigenica's Simon Elsässer discussed click chemistry and its role in this year's Nobel Prize in Chemistry on Swedish TV4.

Epigenica's CSO and co-founder Simon Elsässer was interviewed by Swedish TV4 to help viewers better understand click chemistry and the implications of this year's winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Translated from TV4's article:

This year’s Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been awarded to the scientist who discovered that we can make a cell visible by attaching a fluorescent molecule to its proteins with a simple click.

The secret involves injecting artificial molecules into cells. These molecules are almost identical to those found in the cell, but with one important difference – a kind of connector is added to one end. The cell doesn’t notice and takes up the artificial molecule, which eventually ends up in the cell membrane. Then, a fluorescent molecule with the other part of the connector is added. And with a CLICK, they attach to each other.
